Hi Totaljust. I just dropped by to see if any of the old crowd was
around. I must admit that I just couldn't get interested enough in
the Vegas case to follow it or examine the evidence.
As you may remember, my basic problem with the 1995 trial was not the
verdict itself, but that it did nothing to focus attention of the
defects of the US legal system. The latter remains very expensive
compared to other choices, and not as accurate as it could be in
producing just verdicts. But Americans are quite arrogant as to the
inherent superioity of its instituions as compared with those of the
rest of the world. Doctors and lawyers make more money than they do
in other countries, but justice and health care are not better. And
we have a very lengthy and expensive presidential system which almost
never finds and elects the best person for the job.
